Social Media Marketing Vs. Email Marketing

Both email marketing and social media marketing are powerful tools to get business sales. There are many platforms online that cater to email marketing that is free or paid. Mail Chimp and Constant Contact are a couple of popular email marketing tools. The thing about email marketing is the need to gather personal email addresses which can involve copywriting to attract people to subscribe to a list. With social media marketing, you do not need to gather email addresses but you do need a following which involves creating content regularly for people by making thirty seconds or less videos or written posts.

What is email marketing

Email marketing is the act of using paid and organic marketing strategies to promote a business using a landing page to gain subscribers.

Email Marketing

Everyone who has an email address these days has those Ads at the top of the screen promoting a business service. That is email marketing in a nutshell, but how are these businesses getting everyone’s emails, especially considering what it actually takes to email market? All businesses pay for marketing so the marketing company that the business is paying to generate emails for them needs to supply what they are being paid to do and that gathers emails by any means necessary for the company. I truly believe that this is why everyone is getting spammed. A more organic way is to create a page specifically for subscriber emails which is different than pressing the subscribe button on social media websites.

How Email Marketing Is Done

We know that businesses pay for people’s emails by using a marketing company to promote their business whether it is big or small. It is self-explanatory how to pay someone else to do the marketing for you.

A business that is not paying for someone else to market for them is gathering emails organically. Getting people to drop their emails involves three main categories. The business big or small needs a landing page or squeeze page with copy better known as copywriting, and something that the client will express interest in. When you put all three things together a business will have something like a mini one-page website with a free offer that has written information that lets the consumer know the value of the free offer with a form that requests an email to benefit from the offer. These pages can be created as stand-alone or pop-up messages on your business/e-commerce website. After creating the page you will then be able to promote the page to get people to subscribe with their email. This is easier said than done.

Let me explain what a pop-up page is more in dept. A pop-up page is a page on a website that appears when someone visits a website or is leaving one. It doesn’t necessarily have long copywriting but may have short copywriting depending on the business website preferences. The pop-up page normally will give a short description of something a client visiting the website may be interested in and a call to action to leave an email or telephone number. Compared to a squeeze page or landing page it is very short worded with a call to action button. Businesses that have websites usually like to use pop up messages.

Copywriting is when a business expresses the value of a free offer in long or short-form writing to influence the person visiting the page to leave their information to market to them for future offers or purchase an item later. Lately, many company websites are requesting for people to create an account because once they do the company can send you emails how slick is that?

Social Media Marketing

Can anyone remember how marketing was done in the past? It involved using newspapers, flyers, door-to-door salesman, commercials, and word of mouth. In today’s marketing world, the individual person with a social media account is the customer’s medium for goods being sold by companies. Since social media marketing pretty much involves all of the available marketing tools used and not used by marketers. The business that you are marketing seems to need every marketing tool available to get the point across in today’s market.

Social Media Marketing is the act of using an online platform to gain attention from targeted audiences to get business sales.

The most effective way to be successful at social media marketing is to have the ability to use the content you create to gain a following and repeat buyers. Something that sounds so simple is not always so easy to be done. The way you use social media in your personal life each day is similar to social media marketing which is creating interactive content and engaging with a target audience.

Think about how you follow your friends. Most people follow a group of selected people and family and share relevant and funny content with one another and then interact with the content. The only difference when creating content for a business is it will be for people whom the marketing world calls a cold market. A cold market is when you attempt to interact and sell to people you do not know anything about yourself or your business, so I like to always stress not to spam people’s email or social media accounts. You should also make it a good rule to keep all the content you make more neutral with some personality and don’t forget to tug at those heartstrings.

If I had to choose which marketing strategy is better I would choose email marketing because it is less intense given the fact it can be automated and less work would be done on the marketer’s end. The reason for this is that you can create a one-page email with a call to action and all the information you need in one email and use that email over and over without fail as long as you are not spamming people until the person unsubscribes to your email list. Also making an email is like creating an Ad in its basic concept.

When using social media accounts it involves creating content with video, and engaging with people that you know and do not know regularly each day. The content that is created must be edited because it is a video and most time third-party platforms are used to create content given the fact that the social media user doesn’t support certain things that would make content more valuable on social media. You also would have to post multiple times a day.

Social Media Market

Since the days of old have almost vanished social media marketing is in. The best marketing tool on social media is posting and the number of posts that you do can help with people notice what your company has to offer. I guess you could say that there is more than one way you can market on social media; however, in my experience, I would say it is three best practices for marketing on social media, make a video post, make a regular post, and interact with a targeted group of people at least ten times a day. Good luck with the interacting part because it takes a lot of time to do it given the fact that you are targeting an audience. Although most people just pay for follows.

Social Media Ads

The next step in evolution would be creating social media ads. Creating an ad is not as complex as you may think. An ad can be created to gain followers which is almost like paying for followers of course we all know ads are created to make sales. You can also create ads to have clients visit a page or website. Many wealthy people who have gained success online will tell you how you can create an Ad to get more leads and sales and make thousands of dollars a month but most times it turns out not to be true. I will tell you that most companies are successful online businesses because the product they are selling has become a household item. Stshits for instance, people rarely see any marketing ads about t-shirts unless they actively are seeking a t-shirt for their home, it’s because t-shirts have become a household necessity for people around the world. Now it seems that air fryers will be the norm in the coming future.

Most marketing endeavors can be done organically. Using ads can help get more reach when using social media and email marketing Ads as well. Although Social Media Marketing and Email Marketing can differ each platform provides an excellent way to market for any business big or small.
